Founder Mason Whitaker grew up outside Athens, where weekends often meant helping family members maintain gravel drives, equipment areas and small property improvements. After working around construction and paving crews early in his career, Mason came to appreciate that asphalt work is as much about preparation and water management as it is about the finished pavement. He started Athens Asphalt Paving to bring that practical, property-first approach to local customers.
The business began with smaller driveway and repair projects around Athens and gradually expanded into commercial paving, resurfacing, maintenance, recycled asphalt and site preparation. Serving East Texas and the surrounding areas has stayed central to the company, because Mason knows the properties in the region are diverse, from established neighborhoods and business lots to lake homes, rural acreage and working ranches.
Today, Athens Asphalt Paving keeps the same basic philosophy: understand the property, explain the work and build the project around the customer's actual needs.
